Has anyone noticed the potential formation of a potent anti-Western axis? Times, they are changing!
The Geopolitical centre of gravity has shifted Eastward at an alarming pace within the last decade. World events are now acting as a catalyst for the genesis of this formidable axis. The Russo-Ukranian war is nigh on two years old now, and as I predicted, allies are starting to suffer fatigue from supplying money and arms. The citizens of allies are also suffering fatigue from the influx of refugees mainly due to disinformation from malefic actors and misinformation spread by the disinformed.
Cracks are forming among EU countries and their solidarity for Ukraine: all the while, countries such as China, Russia, Iran, North Korea and other anti-Western states are drawing closer. The pieces are coming together to form an alarming picture on the war room's strategic map table: the drums of war are beating in the distance.
The balance of power is shifting to nations with a definite authoritarian bent. Furthermore, these countries, especially China, control the lion's share of rare earth materials used in the production of modern weapon and defence systems. Western stockpiles of advanced arms are dwindling due to the protracted nature of the war in Ukraine and the enemy's tactic of using cheap drones to lower stockpiles of advanced and expensive Western arms.
My worry is the chronic depletion of advanced weaponry and the inability to ameliorate the problem even with ramped-up production because of a shortage of rare earth materials.
One thing we need to keep in mind, it is one thing to have the biggest, most dangerous, gun: however, without bullets, it is an oversized paperweight. Resources are key: depleting your enemies whilst conserving your own is a brilliant strategy.
Now for the coup de grâce in my strategic analysis, my theoretical axis is formed from a minimum of four nuclear powers, we cannot acquire sufficient rare earth materials to create enough defensive weapons to mitigate that threat given that Western stockpiles are dangerously depleted now.
I'm sure there are ways to mitigate these threats: the caveat, they take time! What if an armed global conflict kicked off tomorrow? In the illustrious words of Illidan Stormrage, "You are not prepared!!!"
Another problem stems from legitimate concerns having fuel poured on them by foreign actors with the specific goal of creating polarization, Tribalism and social unrest. It is difficult to deal with hypothetical threats when you are constantly having to put out fires on the home front: think Dublin riots...
PS: All that being said, I do realise the level and quality of the government's dialogue with communities over refugee accommodation is not stellar and needs attention. However, I do maintain that disinformation is one of the major catalysts of public unrest.
This piece represents my thinking and analysis of current geopolitical trends and is not cast in stone: it is my opinion. Please use due diligence and research the situation yourself. Fact check, use critical thinking and only share what you can verify.
Concerning the government, we are in unprecedented times and we need to encourage them to do their best: I would not like to be in their shoes now. I encourage everyone to act respectfully and responsibly and promote balanced discourse instead of polarisation. Walk a mile in my shoes before attempting to tie my laces.
